Strasbourg Petite France

I visited the french region that inspired Beauty and the Beast and you should too

Alsace is the french region that inspired Disney’s Beauty and the Beast! I’ve been wanting to visit this part of France for a very long time now~ I have watched the remake with Emma Watson earlier this year and it made me even more curious so I just had to visit it!

People have always told me that this region is incredibly charming, especially during winter. I’ve never had the opportunity to go during Christmas but I was able to go in May and it was such a great discovery ~ The fact that this is the place that inspired Disney’s Beauty and the Beast made it even more magical to me!

I spent 4 days there and my conclusion is: this is probably one of my favourite french regions! The cute houses, the beautiful scenery…so many things to see and do! Come with me, I’ll help you visit!

What to do

One of the activities that I recommend there is hiking! Especially if you go during spring or summer! I went to the Nideck Fall and to the Col du Donon. Both were great but the Col du Donon was a longer hike, it was a bit more difficult as well but at the end when you reach the top, the scenery is totally worth it! It’s a good way to get some fresh air and exercise while contemplating the view at the top where there is an ancient roman temple as well! You won’t be disappointed!

Look at that view!

Another activity that I recommend is to visit a park called NaturOparC. It’s a park that was created in order to preserve the storks. I do not like zoos or places that keep animals in cage just for pleasure. This park is meant to preserve endangered animals and they explain everything very clearly, it’s really informative and very interesting for children!

There are also some “shows” with the animals but again it’s far from what you can find in a zoo or a circus. No, here they show you how some of the animals hunt when there are in the water. It is incredible to see and very instructive. If you travel with your family, I definitely recommend this park!

The highlight of my trip

Here’s what you shouldn’t miss: Strasbourg! This city is gorgeous! I loved the infrastructure that reminded me of some old fairy tales and the beautiful streets… Everything was on point!  I know that Paris is the city that most foreigners know but if you decide to visit France you should give it a go, you will not regret it, I guarantee it!

It definitely reminded me of Beauty and the Beast and I wanted to sing in these beautiful streets ~

Strasbourg centre ville

Just take a walk in the city, admire the architecture, the streets, the shops, eat some of the traditional food~ I feel like it’s a great city to live in!

My favourite thing about this city is definitely its architecture!

Strasbourg cathédrale

Of course don’t forget to visit the incredible cathedral! You can’t miss it, it is massive and gorgeous~

Look at the inside, it is equally beautiful! You can also go at the top of the cathedral but you have to pay for that, it’s 5€.

Strasbourg petite france

My favourite part of Strasbourg was the very famous “Petite France”, a historic quarter of Strasbourg! It is a magical place, it totally reminded me of Beauty and the Beast ~

Alsace looks so dreamy 🙂 I really liked your pictures, make me wanna finally visit this place 🙂 I think it is usually overlooked by tourists visiting France, which often head for Paris and Cote d Azur solely…. that’s a pity!
